Mapbugle is a **curation-style media** that introduces Kyoto restaurants on the map, organized through an editor's lens.

Where the name Mapbugle comes from

A bugle is a simple, valveless brass instrument — used in armies and communities to sound clear calls such as reveille and assembly. It cannot play complex melodies, and that constraint is exactly the point: the signal it sends is unmistakable to anyone within earshot.

Our editors are the buglers of the city — sounding a clear, simple call from among the thousands of restaurants out there to say "this is the one to know right now," on behalf of visitors. Bugle was also a common newspaper name in 19th-century American frontier towns: a trusted source of information for people newly arriving in unfamiliar territory. Mapbugle is our contemporary take on that role.

Editorial policy (5 absolute rules)

1. Photos use Unsplash, our own photography or AI-generated only (license verified)
2. We respond to removal requests from shops within one business day
3. We do not publish negative evaluations or comparisons between shops
4. PR articles are explicitly badged (compliance with stealth marketing regulations)
5. Every article ends with a disclaimer noting that content is based on publicly available sources

Our approach

Mapbugle does not conduct on-site interviews. We organize publicly available information from official websites, social media and similar sources, and write articles through an editor's selection and framing. Prices, hours and menus change — please check each shop's official channels for the latest information.
